We are holding down the fort over here. 💜

Sabrina has been slowly gaining weight, which feels like such a victory. She’s also starting to enjoy her purées and we’re celebrating every bit of progress.

We’ve been working hard to keep her as developmentally on track as possible. A sick heart affects everything, so we spend a lot of time keeping her out of bed, helping her sit up, play, roll around, and explore. We also take little adventures around the hospital halls whenever we can. Sabrina rides in her little side hip carrier like it’s a tiny saddle, and I hold the IV pole and keep her steady. She loves being upright and taking everything in.

It’s a lot of work for her, but she has been such a trooper. I told her that the deal is that if she’s not going to spend that energy eating bottles (we’re still on continuous feeds), then we’re going to play like it’s our job. She’s doing so well and showing us every day how determined she is — especially when she’s working hard at something and sticks her little tongue out, which she does all the time. It’s her signature move, and it makes all of us smile.

We’re also navigating the holidays the best we can — finding joy wherever it shows up and trying to make space for little moments that feel warm and normal. This weekend, Grandma D came to visit, and we even got some special time together as a family in the hospital’s sibling playroom. Audie and Sabrina loved it, and it was one of those moments that reminded us how much sweetness can still fit into these hard days.

Keep hoping with us. 💜
