This tree was donated to the children’s hospital by a local business, and yesterday it became ours. 💚

We chose the Moana / Heart of Te Fiti tree because it feels so symbolic of Sabrina’s journey.

In the early days of our hospital stay, Moana was on repeat for Sabrina and brought her comfort during some really hard moments. She even dressed up as Moana for Halloween (see below). The story of the Heart of Te Fiti — a heart that restores life when a hero returns it — mirrors so much of what we’re living right now as Sabrina waits for her own hero heart.

This tree is a quiet reminder of hope and healing. Sabrina has been granted 1A status for another two weeks, after which her status will be submitted for review again. We’re taking things one day at a time and we just keep hoping.
