We arrived in Cincy Tuesdsay and just in time to avoid the bad weather. We have had a full day of testing and prepping for her Surgery tomorrow.Today we met with every specialty involved with her TPAIT Surgery. Scarlett is in great spirits. Dr. Nathan, her surgeon has been amazing to communicate with. Scarlett asked him great questions including will she be able to ride roller coasters during her band field trip. LOL!
She will go down to the OR holding room at 5:30 am CST and they will start surgery ast 6:30am CST. They expect the surgery to be a minimum of 12 hours. She has a lot of calcifications which can make the surgery take longer due to the adhesions. She will be in the PICU for the first week then moved to a surgical floor. We will be getting updates every couple of hours and will update FB and this blog during that time.
We can not express how thankful we are for all of the prayers. We can feel and see them working! Please pray for Dr.Nathan, the anesthesia team and the rest of her surgical team. Please pray for minimal to no complications or surprises. Please pray for a healthy yielf of islet cells from her pancreas. Please pray for her liver to accept the islet cells and produce insulin (it can take several months to a year before we know). Please pray an optimal recovery to remove the breathing tube, avoid infection, pain management and healing of the body. Please pray for her mental strength.Please pray for Peace for Shep and Ansley while we are not there to comfort them. Please pray for my in-laws Priscilla and Jerry who are with Ansley and Shep for the next couple of weeks.
