Hospital Admission

Sylvia has been admitted again at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She was home for 2 days before we took her to East TN Children’s because of increased fussiness and vomiting. Her sodium levels were dangerously low, so they determined she needed to be transported. She was flown by small jet plane early Sunday morning, which was the first time her and dad had been on a flight!

When we arrived, they did xrays, ultrasounds, a procedure to take fluid off her belly to test, tons of bloodwork and medications. She’s continued to get formula through her NG tube, with increased calorie density and additional fats through her IV so she can gain weight before transplant. Her liver disease is causing her to lose weight and not absorb all the nutrients she needs. Please continue to pray that she can bulk up before her transplant surgery.

Today, she’s starting to act like herself again and is showing her personality. She’s very curious and observant of all the nurses that come in, and has very dramatic sad faces when they have to poke at her. When she’s happy, all smiles with a full set of top teeth poking through, just haven’t been able to get a picture yet! She’s still scheduled to have a living donor transplant on March 6th, and she is still on the wait list for a deceased donor if it becomes available before then. Thank you to all those who have been checking in and those who have donated to COTA for Sylvia to assist with transplant-related expenses.
