Post Transplant

Sylvia’s liver transplant was on March 7th and we were able to meet her living donor, Amanda. We met her the morning of the surgery and it has been such a blessing to know her. She visited us several times during her recovery and we look forward to staying in touch and sharing Sylvia’s milestones with her. We are so grateful for her gift of life and God’s perfect timing!

Sylvia has made great progress since her transplant and was discharged from the hospital on Monday, March 24th. We are all so happy to be together again, especially big sister Stella! We will continue to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, which is right next door to the hospital. Sylvia has home care nurse visits with bloodwork twice weekly and appointments with her liver doctor weekly. She is doing very well and we may come home sooner than we expected, possibly within the next month!

We are so very grateful for our family, church family, local community and friends for rallying around us in this journey. We had a very successful COTA for Sylvia fundraiser on March 15th (my birthday!) that included a yard sale, spaghetti dinner and silent auction. I want to give a huge shout out to Julia, my amazing mother in law and Sylvia’s grandmother, who coordinated and made the COTA for Sylvia fundraiser a success. She also represented us well alongside Aunt Jeanne on our local news. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our family, thank you all! Our church family also stepped up and was a huge factor in the success of the fundraiser. Thank you so much members of Riverview Baptist Church for all who donated and worked the fundraiser!
