ALICE IS GOING TO STANFORD!

Due to the complexity of Alice’s condition and anatomy, Phoenix Children’s Hospital has declined to proceed with transplant.  The plan is now to have her evaluated by Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.  This hospital has performed more pediatric liver transplants than any other U.S. Center.  We feel this is Alice’s best chance to locate a surgeon who has worked with her types of issues before.  Her liver has begun to fail and she will continue to rise up the donor list so the need is pressing to find a transplant center and surgical team that can do the procedure when a liver is found.   Alice’s assessment will take place on August 5th and 6th.    As always, we thank you for your encouragement, kind words, donations to COTA and emotional help!

If you may recall, our previous blog about living donors, included a link to this Stanford facility.  I you click on the link below, it will take you to the Stanford Liver Donors FAQ page. There you will see a “become a donor” button.  Click on that and your journey has begun!  Stanford recommends anyone seriously interested get a complete physical and blood typing.  Alice is O+.
