As Alicia Keys would say, “This girl is on fire!” Erin began her Monday morning with a walk of 125 ft at 4:30 in the morning, RT at 8:30, at 11:00 her second walk was 250ft, followed by PT, a port access at 1:00, swallow test 1:30 (a scope with a camera inserted in her nose and pushed down to her vocal cords, yep not fun at all, but it gave her the go ahead to start eating a few things), OT at 2:00, therapy at 2:30, a second port accessed at 3:30, a third walk 5:00, arterial IV in her neck removed at 6:30, and she finished the night off with RT at 8:30 and a fourth walk at 9:00. She began today with another 250ft walk at 4:30am and a 500ft walk at 9:00!!!
The sign to the left, along with other motivational reminders, is taped to the door in her room. It sums up everything so perfectly. Every time I think she couldn’t possibly surprise or amaze me more with her accomplishments, she kicks it up another notch. I could tell yesterday was a turning point, even in the midst of all that was happening yesterday, and it was A LOT, she began using her manners, thanking the nurses at every turn for whatever they were helping her with. The pride is overflowing in this mama’s heart. Let’s hope the fire keeps burning strong!
So happy to read this. One day at a time. You are stronger than the storm. Nobody fights alone. And when you think you have nothing left fight more! Our CF kids (yes even adult kids) are resilient. Keep up the great attitude Erin! And Mom and Dad!
Sending love hugs and prayers!
