Transplant Update

February 5, 2017 – Erin had her transplant surgery today.  Keep the prayers coming and please see the blog posts for further details.  To get to the blog please click on the “Blog” link at the top of the page. Thanks to everyone for your support of Erin and her whole family.

Erin Culbertson, daughter of Paul and Karla Culbertson of Green Bay, was born in 2001 and was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Due to this disease, Erin’s lung function was severely affected and doctors recommended a double lung transplant to help prolong her life.  Erin recently had her double lung transplant surgery under the care of the doctors at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. In Green Bay, volunteers are raising an estimated $50,000 for COTA in honor of Erin.

  2. I have been praying for Erin. I, myself had my double lung transplant on August 26, 2014. I know much of what you, she, is going through. If you have questions or would like to meet when you return to Wisconsin I would be honored. There are only about 2000 lung transplants throughout the US per year, We are a very special group. Continued Prayers and hoping for continued success.

  3. Erin, we have been praying for you and your family everyday. We know what it is like to be separated from your family while in the hospital and realize what a long and difficult experience it is. We were thrilled to hear the great news that you are feeling better. We will continue to pray that you continue to improve and will be able to join your family back home in Green Bay. Love you girl!

  4. Hi Karla, I am so happy Erin is well enough to be discharged to the apartment. Congrats on the success and good luck as you two move forward. Soon you will both be back home to this reality.
