Clinic Visit Update 9/23/20

Last week Eva and I drove to Seattle for a clinic visit following her rejection episode in August. We were so blessed to see Dr. Healy (her surgeon) at the September visit as his primary focus always seems to be removing as many medications as possible.  Because her labs had stabilized and the rejection episode seems to be behind her, he discontinued the prednisone treatment along with two other medications and made a plan to remove one other medication from her list in another few weeks. November 16th will mark her one year anniversary at which time she will lose the last of the prophylactic medications. At that time she will simply take only her anti-rejection medication and Magnesium.  It is hard to believe she started this journey with over 20 medications in ICU and went home on 16.

She continues to battle the EBV virus which, in turn, puts her at risk for rejection (in the long run), so your continued prayers in that regard are appreciated. All in all, she feels great, she plays hard, and she is strong and happy to be back in school; even if it is through a computer screen.

Thanks again for all your prayers.  We look forward to celebrating one year post-transplant with you in 8 short weeks.
