Transplant Eve

It’s wild to think that 24 hours from now the kidney exchange will hopefully have been made!  Our weekend reminded me of what it must be like for a space shuttle launch.  So much preparation (cleaning, stocking the pantry and fridge) and trying our best for no one to get sick as that would just delay the event.  We did pass our final Covid tests (all negative) but still wore masks around the house just to be safe.

Understandably, Jackson has been very quiet today and mainly stayed in his room to process what is about to happen. It’s been a bit of a challenge to get him to eat.  My usual jokes and dry humor that usually elicit a snicker or a smile – even a shaking of the head – went largely unanswered today.  He is very nervous but is being so incredibly strong and brave – just as he has his whole journey in life.

Brady is locked and loaded, ready to help his son feel better.  I had him do some heavy lifting around the house today as he won’t be able to do so for a good six weeks or so.

I will be posting a bit more this week as we have told many that doing so in this one location will be most efficient for keeping everyone up-to-date on our progress 🙂

We have absolutely loved the emails, text messages, phone calls, and offers of help.  We feel incredibly lucky to have such great family and friends and continue to be grateful for the generosity.
