One Week Later!

Yesterday marked one week since the transplant, and things are going well here at home!  Both Brady and Jackson had checkups today and both are healing well.  While still are both sore at their incision sites, neither are using pain medication any more.

The doctors will continue to monitor Jackson’s kidney function through the collection and testing of blood samples.  The doctors are happy with the results they are seeing, but will continue to keep a close eye on the labs while his body adjusts to the new kidney.  He is still on 10 different medications, and they will continue to dial in the dosage his body needs over the next few months.  He is quarantining at home while his immune system is compromised (which allows his body to be accepting of the new kidney).

Jackson is reporting that he is getting his appetite back and that he is starting to feel more energy – both were at low levels prior to surgery.  I would say he is also more relaxed and more animated, which we are so happy to see!  So we and thrilled and will continue to celebrate the small successes we are beginning to see as the dust settles from the procedure.

Brady earned his “donor” medal today to honor his gesture of donating life!  He is also feeling well and slowly getting back to normal.
