Progress

Peter did pretty well overnight and has improved some today.  However he did not tolerate his breathing treatments overnight and they cut them short.  His blood pressure kept going low during the treatment and then his heart rate went low and then corrected.  His BNP, which shows heart stress, went up quite a bit.  They aren’t sure why yet.  Today the goal was to get more fluid off in an attempt to improve his lungs. The cultures from bronchioscopy came back today and showed growth of a bacteria that he had already grown from other cultures recently and is being treated for. He also received blood today. They drew his PRA (blood antibodies) labs today before blood instead of Monday, because blood products can cause a spike in the antibodies.

When I spoke to the nurse this evening she said that Peter’s lungs sound better now than when she started the day.  They were able to stop the paralytic drip and he has been off of it for several hours.  She said at the time of my call his eyes were open and he was comfortable.  He still has a ways to go but it seems like he’s made some progress in the right direction. Please continue to pray for him and improvements in his lungs
