Peter is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning to repair his diaphragmatic hernia.  After surgery he will go the to picu for a time (we hope only a few days).  He will be intubated for this surgery and we have been cautioned that he may remain intubated longer than other kiddos due to his rhino entero history.  We are praying that his lungs will stay happy and healthy and intubation will last only a day or two.  Then we will return to the 4th floor.

I’m not sure how long this hospital stay will be when it’s all said and done. And I’m not sure how this will affect our timeline to return home.  I’m fairly certain we will be in KC for a little bit longer than originally thought.  But we of course want to get all of our issues out of the way before we go several hours away from our doctors.  This whole experience is wearing on our family.  Last night Christopher was reading a book to Michael and in the story a mom was reading to her kid. Michael said: Maybe she can be my mom.

Christopher: But you have a mom.

Michael: I know. But I miss her.

We’ve all had to be troopers through this.

Please pray for the surgeons and wisdom for their decisions and care of Peter. Please also pray for Peter to be protected from infection and complications in surgery.
