April Showers Bring May Flowers

Things are looking up!

Check out this picture of Jacob sitting on Ali’s lap reading (and Eli reading in the distance)…. What do you see on top of their heads? That’s right – a head full of hair! It seems that the alopecia is in remission for both boys!

If you live in Virginia you may have also noticed that the trees are in full bloom and we’ve had a week full of lots of pollen. Amazingly the boys do not seem to be effected! This is also a wonderful sign that their bone marrow transplant is working!

Being home, back in VA, has been a blessing for sure. It does come with the drawback that they are so close to friends but still can’t play with them as they are still completely immunocompromised (and this goes beyond just covid – any little cold or bug would be very bad for the boys).

But they continue to participate in school in various ways. The school system changed their covid restrictions after Passover / Spring Break which made for big changes in the Kulman house. Eli is now in a fully virtual classroom with a new teacher. His old teacher still checks in on him from time to time and has sweetly become his pen pal. Jacob’s grade didn’t have enough students for a full time virtual class so he is currently having a homebound teacher provide lessons each week.

Ali and Dave are both now fully vaccinated from Covid and were each able to get go shopping out of the house for the first time in over a year. I think we can all appreciate how great that feels! They got some safe treats for the whole family – including the new gluten free Oreos!

Both sets of grandparents have been able to visit over the past few weeks and you can just see the love in these happy faces!

Let’s keep cheering on the Kulmans through kind words, messages, and sharing the COTA for Eli and Jacob COTA campaign!
