We have been home for 24 hours and starting to get settled into a new schedule.
Here’s all the things I didn’t expect after a transplant…
The weeks post transplant are filled with lots of new things for us. For the next 4-6 weeks we will travel to UNC every Monday for a clinical visit. While there, Evan will get bloodwork drawn, meet with the pharmacist to adjust meds and see the nephrologist. Every Wednesday and Friday we will go to the local hospital for blood draw. We have to monitor blood pressure, body temp, weight as well as fluid intake and output daily. The purpose is to protect that kidney and if it takes 9 different medications to do it, we will make it happen!
The last week had been crazy fast, not leaving much time to process all the feelings and emotions that go along with this journey. It’s emotional for me to even write it all down, BUT we will get through this! Keep sending the prayers!
