Surgery is underway. Gillian will wake up without her pancreas, spleen, appendix, a small portion of bowel. They will the take the islet cells from her pancreas and transplant them into her liver. They will also inject the lower portion of her stomach with Botox to help her digestion and do a nerve block to the Celiac plexus bundle to help with pain management after surgery.
