Prayers Needed – Major Repair Surgery Tomorrow

Gillian has had a lot of appointments this week for her 1-year post-TPIAT checkup 🎉 Her islet cells are doing amazing, and miraculously, she has been off insulin since the end of January.

We are so incredibly grateful for that… but at the same time, we’re carrying some really heavy news, and our hearts are pretty broken.

Her hernia repairs from October and November were not successful. Since her surgery in November, it feels like we’ve been living in and out of hospital rooms and ER visits, just trying to get her through the week.

Tomorrow, her amazing surgeon here in Ohio is taking on a very major repair. He will reopen her entire scar, remove all of the scar tissue, and use mesh to rebuild and strengthen her abdominal wall. He’ll also release her side muscles and bring them closer together to give her midline the support it so desperately needs.

It’s a big, intense surgery… and if we’re being honest, we’re scared. Gillian is especially anxious having to go through something like this again.

We are holding onto hope with everything we have that this will be her final surgery—that this will finally be the turning point, and she can begin to heal and get back to the life she loves so much.

If you pray, please keep her in your prayers. Pray for peace over her mind tonight and tomorrow, for strength during surgery, and for a smooth, complete recovery. Pray that her body heals quickly and fully and pray for her incredible medical team, pray for them to be guided throughout her surgery and recovery.

We feel so lucky to have such an incredible support system. Your love, prayers, and encouragement mean more to us than we could ever put into words.

I’ll update everyone here during surgery tomorrow. We love you all so much. Thank you ❤️
