Liam’s Visit

Yesterday was a very special day for our family! Liam was able to see Greta, for the first time in over 4 months! Greta was admitted June 8th. It has been a scary journey but COVID has brought a whole different layer to things. In the beginning they wouldn’t let Sean and I be there at the same time unless it was an emergency or big procedure. About a month into her stay, they lifted that restriction. Although we are rarely there together as one of us needs to be with Liam. This whole time I have asked about the possibility for a quick visit with Liam but knew the staff would make it happen when they could. Pre-COVID CCU patients could have up to 10 visitors at a time! Siblings could come and play together and patients could go to playrooms to interact with eachother! It breaks my heart that most of these kids haven’t seen their families in months! I’m so grateful to the staff for making this visit happen! It was needed for all 4 of us! Greta wouldn’t stop grabbing Liam’s face and Liam wouldn’t stop smiling! I feel in my heart that Greta’s perfect heart is very close. But for now this time together filled my heart with happiness while we continue to wait.

We ended the night with a dinner at the Cheesecake factory and a 360 Chicago experience on the 95th floor of the Hancock building!
