Update 3/20/20

Home Hemo Dialysis is now a reality.  We completed the five weeks of training today at Children’s Mercy Hospital.  We will start home Hemo on Sunday.  Two CMH nurses will come out and watch us do the first two days of treatment.  While we are anxious and nervous about doing home Hemo we are hoping Hayden does well with home Hemo so we can keep him out of the hospital.  Given the coronavirus we are concerned for Hayden’s health as his immune system is low and not able to fight off viruses like a healthy child can.  Steve and I will be home for the next 14 days so we don’t infect anybody in case we were exposed in the hospital.  Hayden seems to be doing well with dialysis five days a week.  We will start out doing dialysis on Sunday Monday Wednesday Thursday and Friday.  Hayden is hooked up for 2.5 hours.  It takes an hour to set up the machine and about 30 minutes to take it down.  So in total we will spend around 4 hours with dialysis each day.  We are thankful for all the people that have prayed and helped us get through these past five weeks.
