We are celebrating some fantastic news: Jake’s preliminary biopsy results came back negative for rejection! This is the news we always pray for and beg to hear. It is such a relief to know that his new heart and liver are settling in and his body is accepting these incredible gifts.
On the respiratory front, he is making progress as well. He was able to wean back to the high-flow oxygen during the day and did well on it. He will continue to use the CPAP at night to give his lungs that extra support while he sleeps, but seeing him without the huge mask during the day is everything.
.in other good news, for the first time in over 3 weeks, Jake took a short walk in his room to look out the window. Seeing him standing there, looking out, felt like such a huge step toward the life that is waiting for him outside these hospital walls.
Recovery is not a straight line. While we are dealing with some “hiccups” regarding the lungs recovery timeline and the new endocrine adjustments, the BIG things, his heart and his liver, are working beautifully. The rest we will learn to manage.
We are just so impressed and proud of Jake. He is showing a level of will and determination that leaves us in awe. He is pushing through pain, fighting through discomfort, and doing the hard things simply because he knows it is what will help him get better. To those of you sending messages and videos: Thank you. We want you to know the impact you are having. Whenever Jake is having a hard time or gets overwhelming, we stop and watch your videos and read your messages. It makes the impossible feel possible again. Your words always lift his spirits and reignite his fire to keep fighting.
We are so blessed to have so many amazing people in our corner. I do not think we can ever fully express our gratitude. We know we do not deserve the amazing love you have shown us, but we are so incredibly grateful for it. You are carrying us through.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights. James 1:17

Woohoo!! Such excellent news! And Jacob you really are one of the bravest people I know and I should know. I lived in Brazil as a missionary and we had teams visit from the United States and we always took them alligators hunting. Those alligator hunters were brave but not like you!!! Keep pushing through!!!
Way to go Jacob! We are proud of you! Prayers continue! Harriet and Pastor Hinkle
Loving hearing of your recovery! Keep it up!
