What a difference a day makes! We are ecstatic over the results from yesterday’s Cardiac Cath. The procedure went very well, and the doctor was able to go through the neck instead of the leg. This seemingly small change made a huge difference for Jake, as it meant less strict and shorter bed rest instead of the longer flat time required after a leg puncture. Jacob was tired for the rest of the day, but overall, much happier!
The news we were waiting for came in. Both his labs and the biopsy results came back negative for rejection! We are doing the happy dance and praising God for this fantastic news.
This was a much-needed pick-me-up after a few setbacks over the weekend. Jake’s lungs are still putting up a fight. The lower portion of his left lung and the middle section of his right lung are struggling to stay fully open. To combat this, the team put him back on the CPAP machine full time for both Sunday and Monday, but it is proving its worth and seems to be doing the trick! Today, he was able to move back to the high flow oxygen during the day and use a nasal cannula for his therapies and activity. He was able to walk 500 steps which is huge!! He will continue the use of the CPAP overnight for now, but every hour he can spend without it during the day is a victory.
Despite the respiratory struggles, Jake’s heart is strong, his liver is fully working, his body is healing, and his determination remains unwavering. He is still unable to eat by mouth per speech but he is still trying to finagle “real food” out of any doctor that walking in the room. This will hopefully resolve with a little more time and therapy.
We are so thankful for days like today. We prayed and the Lord answered.
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. Psalm 34:17
