WE GOT THE CALL FOR JONAHS HEART!

On Good Friday, at 8:18 am, we heard the incredible news that would change our lives!

At 7:30 a.m., on Easter Sunday, exactly 18 weeks into our hospital stay, we walked Jonah into the OR (the same OR I was walked to) and he received his miracle! He was in the OR for about eight hours. There will be so much more to share, but we wanted to officially let you all know. We can’t possibly thank everyone enough for the continued love, prayers, and unending support for our son and our entire family!

Jonah is doing beyond fantastic. He was extubated just twelve hours after transplant, and as soon as the breathing tube came out he wanted to sit up; he asked to go back to his room; he wanted to play Nintendo/Kirby; eat ice cream; and wanted to watch his favorite things on TV as soon as he could talk!

He is surpassing everything. Tubes and lines flew off of him quicker than they were put in. He started eating and drinking day one and two. And two days post transplant he walked the entire PICU floor, went to the fish tank, then went all the way to M40 (the regular floor) and back to the PICU, and he didn’t even flinch!

Day four, yesterday, he was moved. Well, I should say he walked back to the regular floor! They said they were going to bring him a wheelchair just in case. His response to that was “zero percent chance” 🤣

We definitely have a road ahead of us, just a different one now. We all need so much rest and down time, especially Jonah, and he has a lot of healing to do. But he’s doing phenomenal. Please know we love and appreciate each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts. We will not be able to respond a whole lot right now, but we are doing great and as time allows we will continue to update more. Your ongoing love and support means the world to us!

Last but absolutely not least, this would not be possible without the selfless decision our donor family made in their most difficult hour. Losing their child and still choosing to say yes to help ours. There will never be adequate words to express our deepest love, thanks and appreciation to them. We hope and pray one day we will be able to thank them in person. Either way our hearts and thoughts are with them and we pray blessings upon blessings over them now and always!
