Post Transplant Day 68

We have officially past the 60-day mark, meaning Josiah’s suppressed immune system should be recovering a bit as the special suppressant given at surgery should be wearing off. He is still taking a anti-rejection meds daily to ensure his body does not reject his new kidney, but we hope that with the medication given at surgery wearing off his body won’t get so sick so fast like it did in Nov.
Even though we are past 60 days, Josiah has still not returned to school. There is a huge influx of viruses running around right now, and we do still need to proceed with caution. He is continuing with the tutors from school. They have been great, and I totally appreciate them helping us out. We are hoping that after Christmas break Josiah can return to class.
OH! Huge news for the King household… we are now at 1x a week for clinic visits. It is so nice to not have to return to Boston so often, and also that Josiah’s receives one less poke for blood draws!
For those of you wondering, Daniel is feeling more and more like himself, he still tires easily, and he wonders if it is because he hasn’t been doing any exercise related activities since surgery (aside from his initial walking). He is starting small and will be lifting a bit to build back up his strength.
