A Triumphant Return!

The day before Christmas break, Josiah and I went to his school to drop off treats for the teachers and the school councilor that have been helping us so much. We timed it just right so that his class was in the cafeteria having lunch, as we were approaching the lunchroom a friend saw him coming and jumped up yelling his name and rushed out of the caf to give him a hug (he was masked and had hand sanitizer in his pocket). The caf has a wall of windows and the commotion caught the other student’s attention, they started looking over and when they saw Josiah, they all started yelling his name and cheering! As he walked thru the doors the roar was unbelievable, they all were standing and cheering! I was standing back in the hall crying, & I could see Josiah felt awkward and overwhelmed as he entered the room. Despite that he went in and started greeting everyone, walking around the caf fist bumping and sanitizing along the way. It was literally just like a movie scene.
After Christmas break, he returned to school, and he says aside from having more visitors at his table at lunch things have returned to normal.
There have been no new changes since Dec as far as hitting up the clinic, that is still once a day. His numbers remain great and steady. We did have another UTI before Christmas, so now they have switched his prophylactic antibiotic which eliminated a liquid medicine he was on for pneumonia protection as the new antibiotic has coverage for both. Which is great news for Josiah, as he hated that med as it tasted bad.
We have a urology appt next week and we will discuss the UTI’s, & the results of an imaging test he had last week to see if a revision of ureter placement is necessary. We hope not, Josiah really hopes not, but we will do whatever we needed to ensure Josiah’s health and the longevity of the new kidney!
Thank you all for your support,
Katherine
