Our Story

Lincoln is the happiest little boy with the biggest smile who received a liver transplant in July of 2024. At 5 weeks old, he was diagnosed with biliary atresia, meaning he was born with no bile ducts and had no way to release bile from his liver, causing cirrhosis. A Kasai procedure was done to attach his intestines to his liver to allow bile to flow out. However, it was unsuccessful and Lincoln was ultimately put on the transplant list in June of 2024 at 4m old. Finally, at 5m old, his godmother donated part of her liver to give Lincoln a second chance at life.

Despite the many hospital stays, frequent doses of nasty medications, and a big belly of ascites, Lincoln is always sharing his smile with everyone he meets. He loves sitting outside with his mommy and daddy watching his puppies run around, his daily sunset walks, and cuddling. He is continuing to grow and learn and we pray he can continue to share his happiness with the world!

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
