We are going home! Lincoln’s blood cultures have remained negative and based on his chest x-ray, he was diagnosed with pneumonia. It was weird to get this diagnosis since Lincoln was acting perfectly fine until he suddenly got a fever, but our transplant team said that is pretty normal given his immune status. We will go home on some antibiotics and follow up with labs to keep an eye on everything!
Right after transplant, Lincoln had an echocardiogram that showed left ventricle hypertrophy. His blood pressure was pretty high post transplant due to his immunosuppressant. During this admission, we had another echo and while the hypertrophy looked better, there was still some dilation of the coronary arteries. We are still seeing nephrology about the hypertension, but now we will be seeing cardiology to monitor the dilation.
As we near 6m post transplant (!!), we are starting to decrease the amount of immunosuppressant we are on. This means a little more labs in the short run to make sure the levels don’t get too low, but also shows that we are doing well post transplant!
There are still a few things that need to be monitored in the background, but overall Lincoln is doing well. Today he feels SO much better and is so excited to go home!
