Well, Lincoln’s in the hospital again. 2/9 at 4am, Lincoln started fussing and we noticed he was warm. His temperature was 101.9, so we gave some Tylenol and since he looked ok and was alert (unlike other times) we drove him to Duke ourselves.
Some inflammatory markers were elevated, but his viral panel was negative, chest x-ray looked good, and hepatology was happy with his liver numbers given that he’s clearly sick. We were admitted Sunday morning to wait for blood culture results and to monitor for more fevers.
Sunday night, Lincoln’s temperature got to 101.6, so they re-cultured him and gave him some Tylenol. The Tylenol has been working in breaking his fevers and making him feel better, but we still don’t know the cause for all this. Lincoln’s liver ultrasound was not concerning to the team, but they ordered a CT to get a better look at his liver and also his chest. Since Lincoln had chest complications after transplant, they want to make sure no infection is brewing in there.
Lincoln feels so much better this morning, but it’s sad to hear we will be in the hospital on his birthday. It’s been a tough time in the post-transplant period, but Lincoln is staying strong. In fact, today is Lincoln’s 7m liver-versary! Please continue to pray for our almost 1yr old. Maybe we can sneak out of the hospital tomorrow as a birthday gift ☺️
