No News is Good News

We’ve almost gone the whole season of summer without posting anything, although, I promise I DID try to sit down and write something up in July, I just never got around to finishing it…

The last post ended with hopes for a joy-filled summer, great health for all, and lots of memory making days- we surely succeeded in all of those areas!

Liviah was the pediatric LIVEr Champion and the turn out was incredible!

She also had her dance recital that she put so much time and effort into practicing, and looked beautiful as she performed on stage.

We vacationed in June, and the kids keep asking when we’re going back to the beach.

Give Kids the World went on a road trip and we met up with them at a theme park!

And at the end of June, Liviah lost her 1st tooth!! This was so heartwarming because she had been waiting to lose a tooth since her older brother lost some of his… and she’s alive and well and able to experience this because of her donor and donor family!! The same can be said for all the memories that we’ve gotten to make since her transplant at the beginning of 2022!

In July, we had lots of pool days, 4th of July fun, and ended it with her birthday!!! She’s turned 5 and now 6 with her new liver Teddi!!!

Beginning of Summer Medical Stuff
On the first day of summer break, Liviah had another biopsy to gather tissue from the lesion to try and figure out what had grown on Teddi. From pathology, we received news that the lesion is consistent with congenital hepatic fibrosis, and prayers have continued that it stays to one localized area, ceases to get any bigger, and that it causes no future problems.
Here she is, being her fearless self and enjoying ALLLLL the popsicles:

Liviah also had appointments with pulmonary, for she had a chronic cough since the winter that had gotten somewhat better, but obviously failed to cease. From a recent liver MRI the pulmonologist was able to see that there was something going on within her lungs, and put her on some medicine and an inhaler- which took care of the cough!!

Right now Medical Stuff
We started the school year with a few follow up appointments. We had an ultrasound to check on her lesion- and it had not grown any!!!
We also had a follow up lung appointment and she’s able to stop her inhaler because whatever was going on in her lungs is currently doing better!
She also had a blood draw and her numbers looked AMAZING!
Lastly, we just had a follow up liver appointment, and again, everything is going in the right direction!!!

We are so incredibly thankful for all of this fantastic news, and continue our prayers for Liviah’s health, and appreciate all who have asked about and prayed for her.

I’m going to end this post with a picture that Liviah brought home from kindergarten because it’s such an incredibly touching drawing:
Liviah let us know that this is a picture of her when she was in the hospital. Her slothy stuffie is right next to her in bed, Bali Girl (her imaginary friend) is on the table beside her, and an angel came down from the cross and patted her back while she was in the hospital.

We know that we have her here because someone else saved her. We believe in miracles and are thankful beyond words for her donor and donor family, and I hope that they know that!
