Today we were informed that, because Magnolia’s phosphate levels are still lower than expected, the kidney specialist will now be involved in monitoring her care. We are praying they can find a solution by adjusting her medications or identifying alternatives that will help prevent her phosphate levels from dropping so dramatically. It is typically normal to see phosphate levels decrease after surgery, but by this point they should be stabilizing. Unfortunately, that has not been the case for Magnolia.
We are praying fervently that her kidneys are functioning well.
On a positive note, Magnolia received a backyard playset today from the Roc Solid Foundation through a generous sponsor. Rodgers brought volunteers from their company to assemble the playset they donated for Magnolia. We are incredibly grateful that our girl will now have an outdoor playset at home, allowing her to avoid public parks while still enjoying the fun and joy of childhood.

Estamos profundamente agradecidos de que nuestra niña ahora pueda tener un espacio para jugar al aire libre en casa, evitando así tener que ir a los parques, pero sin dejar de disfrutar la alegría y diversión propias de su infancia.

On Saturday, we received news that Magnolia’s kidneys will continue to be closely monitored as her medications are adjusted. We are praying that her phosphate levels improve and that there is no long-term damage.
The kidney specialist believes this may be related to the chemotherapy, while the oncology team believes it could be connected to the transplant. We are praying that, whatever the cause may be, the issue will be identified and resolved soon.
We also met with the oncology team here at Duke. There is a possibility that Magnolia will receive the remainder of her chemotherapy treatments at Duke due to the ongoing care required for her liver transplant, as well as the continued monitoring of her kidneys.
El Sabado, recibimos noticias de que los riñones de Magnolia continuarán siendo monitoreados de cerca mientras ajustan sus medicamentos. Estamos orando para que sus niveles de fosfato mejoren y que no haya ningún daño a largo plazo.
