It’s been over 100 degrees for most days during my stay here in SLC. It’s just beginning to cool down some – high 80’s to low 90’s. I’ve been able to take a walk in the evening. During the day I’m mostly in my hotel room, but do take air-conditioned car trips to air-conditioned locations, mostly food shopping (it seems endless!).
I’ve also heard an organ recital at the Mormon Temple and visited Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty (photos below). The jetty is an artwork I’ve been wanting to see ever since it was constructed in 1970. It really evocates thoughts about the passage of time and human impact on, and relationship to, the natural environment.
So I guess I am a happy “domestic medical tourist.” Coming to Intermountain Health has proven to be a great decision for me. I got my kidney in four months from evaluation and Salt Lake City is an interesting, pleasant and convenient place to recuperate!
