Mylin seems to have had a pretty easy night. They weren’t doing all the talking or grabbing at lines that they did the night before.
The fever didn’t stay long and all labs came back normal. The chest x-ray did, however, show that the large amount of fluid on the lungs didn’t budge at all. This is probably why My is having stabbing chest pain and heaviness this morning. They also had a little congestion yesterday. The doctors say the lungs sound normal at least, so they will just be keeping an eye on that. The had discontinued diuretics, because My was losing such abnormally large volumes of fluid especially in the drains. The doctors said they are going to restart them at a much smaller dose to see if they can get any of the fluid to budge off of those lungs.
The introduction of feeds of course disrupted the insulin numbers, so more insulin has needed to be added. This is to be expected though. Other than that My is doing well with insulin. The doctors also will be increasing the feeds today since Mylin has done so well.
The team had taken the catheter out yesterday, but My was retaining a liter or more every time they measured. They’re unable to do anything about it on their own, despite trying, so a catheter will be put back in today.
They are going to take My off of the blood pressure meds My’s been on to see if that helps with blood pressure dropping so severely when My sits up or stands. The big goal here is to get My out of bed longer/more often. They’ll drs say that will help with the lungs too, as well as upping usage of the incentives spirometer.
My was taken off oxygen completely through the night and is doing great with room air.
They are looking to take the epidural out tomorrow morning, so a few of the medications will be paused today to prepare for that.
The wild part, they think they can move My to the regular floor, no longer ICU, by tomorrow morning. A full 8 days earlier than originally thought! They will be doing all the preparations for that today through tomorrow morning. They said My is doing well and is really strong.
