After Transplant: Day 1

This morning, Jenna, Jaydon, and I came down to University Hospital to visit the boys.  Upon entering Jackson’s room, we saw he was gone …. only to find him in Brady’s room!  It was his second walk of the day :).  His pain level is tolerable and his vitals continue to improve beautifully.  The next weeks and months he will continue to be watched very closely to make sure his body continues to accept and not reject the new organ gifted to him.  Lots of medication, lots of bloodwork, but also lots of progress!

Amazingly just 24 hours after coming out of surgery, Brady was discharged from the hospital.  I will upload some pictures which document his brief stay here at University Hospital:

Ironically, I have a friend who works with the kidney doctor who followed Jackson from age 9 months to 18 years, when he graduated from the pediatric world into the adult world of nephrology.  I asked my friend to let that doctor know that Jackson had received his new kidney … which, from what I was told, put a big smile on her face.

I am now back at the hospital by Jackson’s bedside, keeping him company.  The doctors told us today that he will most likely get to go home Thanksgiving Day!  🙂
