He did it! We are HOME! I am in awe of his strength and faith through it all. We are so very thankful for the selfless gift he was given. This really is the start of a new life for Jake.

Jake has several changes post-transplant:

No more diet restrictions

No more daily shots at home

Meds will be taken twice a day, instead of four times

Jake is immunocompromised and will have to be very strict about germ safety

There is always a risk of rejection that will be in the back of our minds

One of the special things about this week is that our favorite nephrologist, Dr. Willig, just happened to be the attending physician at the hospital. So we got to see her twice a day, each day, and she took such good care of Jake. She has been his doctor for quite some time, and we will miss her dearly. He now follows with a different nephrologist, post transplant. Thank you to all the medical staff at CMH!

So here’s to the next chapter! Thank you to all of you for coming along this journey with us. Your love and encouragement were felt throughout each step. We are forever grateful for each of you!
