The Walk to Recovery

Cassidy continues to impress us with her strength as she underwent yet another procedure today. This one was to drain the fluid surrounding the left lung and place the chest tube to allow her lung which was partially collapsed to begin to heal. We are SO thankful that this procedure went better than expected and she was able to breath on her own and avoid another trip to the ICU.

Although she is still struggling through the pain, she has shown so much strength and determination by pushing herself to do her daily physical therapy. She surprised everyone by standing on her own and walking down the hall with very little help. We know all those dreaded softball conditioning days really played a huge role in her recovery!

Prayers moving forward-

  • Please pray that the pancreatitis that is causing so much pain will begin to resolve.
  • Pray for her recovery….of her body as well as spirit. This has been a long, traumatic experience for her and she will need all the love, prayers and support to begin to heal.
  • Praise God that her liver is functioning well and her body is accepting the new liver!

We also wanted to share a bright spot in Cassidy’s day…a gift from the liver team at Stanford, which Cassidy named “Leo the Liver”.
