Bumps in the Road

Aloha ‘Ohana,
Just wanted to send an update and humbly ask for more prayers during these few bumps in her recovery.

Praises- Cassidy is able to eat solid food and has been putting on healthy weight. She has more energy after the angioplasty procedure and was able to start taking a few classes! Also the COTA t-shirt fundraiser was a success and we have met the fundraising goal. The bills are starting to come in so we definitely appreciate your generosity so COTA can assist us with transplant-related expenses.

Prayer Request- Tomorrow 4/05/23, Cassidy will be admitted to the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford to remove the two stents that was placed in her bile duct post-transplant surgery. We are requesting prayer, because this procedure is believed to have caused her painful bout of pancreatitis. The surgeon will remove her stents and determine if her bile ducts are strong enough or if stents are still needed. If determined that the opening is too narrow, one to two stents will be inserted into Cassidy’s bile duct and will need to be removed in two to three months. We are praying that her bile ducts are strong and not in need of stents and that she does not develop pancreatitis again. Two key differences between this time and the last, is that Cassidy is much stronger now and she has a functioning liver that has been in her for two months.
The following day, she will undergo another liver biopsy and some exploratory work to see why there is blood flow challenges to her liver. Please keep Cassidy in your thoughts and prayers. We are praying that her body is NOT rejecting her liver, that she doesn’t need additional stents and that we can come home soon!

  1. We will be praying that only positive progress will take place. Be strong baby and keep fighting ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  2. I’m related to Goyas from Hawi, HI. Wondering if you are relatives. My son Keith Sakuma passed away at 3 1/2 from biliary atresia long before liver transplants were available. So I can empathize with what you are going through. Praying for God to be with your family and keep you strong.

  3. You Got This Cass! Bumps in the road only make you stronger. Keep up the Fighting Spirit and you will prevail. The Lord is with you and will guide you through the bumps to smoother roads ahead. Praying for you Cass. You Got This!
