A Sudden Change

I feel like I need to give an update because a lot changed since my last post about my surgery.

Pt. 2 of my arm fistula surgery is still scheduled for the 24th however after a visit with my nephrologist he felt it was time to get the chest catheter to start dialysis before that access would be done healing. It’s pretty clear regardless of what I say that I am run down and out of gas to keep doing things my way. The chest port is a can I’ve been kicking down the road since before Christmas, and it has finally caught up to me.
Things moved pretty quickly from there and they had it scheduled for 3 days later.
So here we are- I start dialysis on Tuesday, Valentine’s Day. Four-hour treatments, four days a week. And I’m a bit sideways about my new look. People like to stare in stores, some even ask questions. I can’t take a normal shower because of the risk of an infection going straight to my heart so I am now using it as an excuse to splurge on blowouts.

So that’s my update.

I miss seeing all of your friendly faces, and just because I am stuck at the dialysis clinic doesn’t mean my phone doesn’t work. Feel free to give me a call to help keep me entertained.
