Another Fall is here again- not much has changed in Evelyn’s world. We are still living one day at a time. Evelyn was able to get outside this evening.
Life seems to stand still in the hospital, while the world outside keeps moving. As I was outside with Evelyn today, I couldn’t help but feel a little somber watching the leaves fall from the trees again. We are facing another Fall in the hospital.
In some ways, it almost feels like starting over, even though we’ve accumulated nearly an entire year of hospital life. Another season passing while we wait for the one thing that will finally bring her home.
But today, I’m choosing to be grateful.
Grateful that Evelyn is well enough to be outside. Grateful that she can feel the cool breeze on her face, see the changing leaves, laugh, and experience little pieces of the world beyond these hospital walls.
We’ve made it this far. And even though the waiting is hard, I don’t want to overlook just how far she has come, and the little things in life.
So we keep going. One day. One breath. One little victory at a time.
