On June 24th, Lincoln was officially listed on the UNOS transplant list. His pediatric end-stage liver disease score was 26 out of 40, with 40 being someone that needs a liver ASAP. The following day, his score went up to 27. His team decided this number was not describing him accurately, so they petitioned for a higher score. We have not heard back if his number has increased yet. This number is constantly changing based off his clinical impression and labs, so while we hope his number increases so he can be higher priority for a transplant, that would also mean he is much sicker. Our surgeon does feel that Lincoln needs a transplant as soon as possible, so he is constantly checking in and advocating for Lincoln’s transplant. Now we wait for either a living donor or deceased donor liver!

Given Lincoln’s size, he would need a partial liver transplant from an adult and maybe even a child. The statistics on 1 year survival rate for both are pretty equal, so there is not much concern on which one comes our way. Things they look for in terms of a good match – compatible blood type, compatible size, favorable anatomy (not too many blood vessels, blood vessels in a good spot).
