After Lincoln’s 2nd trip to the OR this admission, we dealt with a lot of back and forth and scary thoughts. He lost a lot of blood and required a massive transfusion followed by subsequent transfusions of platelets and blood. He lost many IVs and required another PICC placement. He spent a lot of time restless on the ventilator because he wasn’t being well sedated. But yesterday, numbers started to look better and yesterday evening he was extubated.
He was on a type of oxygen that pushes a lot of air into the nose, so his belly got very full of air. With his belly being so distended and heavy, it made his breathing hard and fast. Usually the treatment got fast and heavy breathing is the type of oxygen he was getting, but the team decided to cut that in case it was causing the distention. Now we are just playing around with simethicone, suppositories, and gastric decompression to get his belly back to normal. Luckily his liver labs and blood labs look good. We should be looking at getting the last chest tube out today. Once he comes off his blood pressure medicine and starts breathing more comfortably, we should be out of the PICU.

We’re thankful for the care we’ve gotten and don’t want to rush things, but we are VERY ready to take our sweet baby home.
P.S. Lincoln’s beautiful hair has been shedding and is almost gone and it’s the worst thing ever 🙁
Hi,
I am a friend of your step-father, my name is Sara Landis. I appreciate all the updates and want you to know that there are several of us praying. My girlfriend is the music director of Holy Faith Catholic Church and Lincoln has been mentioned in healing prayer services. I know life is challenging at this time, but TRUST God is taking care of all of you.
Love,
Sara
Azalea and Jacob, remember that you are wonderful parents! Despite being new parents (and having that “I don’t know what I’m doing” 🤭 feeling), you have been such wonderful advocates for your beautiful baby boy thus far. A mother’s (and father’s) intuition is right, so trust your gut and trust in God- HE continues to have you’re sweet family in the palm of HIS hand. Lincoln is such a strong, little man; I know God has big plans for him. Sending continued prayers & love from Bham 💌
P.S. I have no doubt Lincoln’s beautiful locks will return, once his little body settles out! 👶🏻😍
