Hello and Good Afternoon,
We hope that you are all doing well. Today marks Miranda’s 2nd Heart Birthday. It does not seem possible that it has been two years already since Miranda received her new heart. Time does go by quickly. What is even worse is that the last time we sent out a Miranda Update was in January 2024. We really apologize for that, and you probably had thought we had fallen off the face of the earth. 🙂
Miranda is doing well and has not had any complications which is a good thing. She continues to go to Seattle every 3 months or so to have check ups. There have not been any major issues and the doctors are happy with how she is doing. They monitor her lab levels and adjust her medications as needed. She will go back the first of April for her two year heart catheterization. With this, they will be able to tell how the pressures are doing within her heart and blood stream.
Miranda will finish up her senior year at Pendleton High School this spring. That does not seem possible either. She has kept busy this year with classes and with the high school dance team, on which she has been a manager. The dance team wraps up their year in a couple of weeks when they compete at the State Dance Competition in Salem. It is an exciting time for them. Then in April, Miranda will be traveling with the high school choir to Disneyland where they have the opportunity to take classes and perform. That is also going to be an exciting time. Tod will be going along as a chaperone for that trip.
Next Fall, Miranda is planning on following in Brittany’s footsteps and attending Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. She is hoping to major in language studies, which she is excited about.
The rest of our family is doing well also. Brittany graduated from Pacific University last May with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. She is currently working at the OSU Columbia Basin Agricultural Research Center outside of Pendleton and is enjoying getting the opportunity to do research work. She would like to get into medical research, but this is giving her experience. Tod & Lorie are doing well. Lorie did have a major surgery last August, but is finally getting back to her old self.
We hope that 2025 is going well for all of you and that it may be a wonderful year. Thank you for all the support that you have provided us and continue to provide us. Take care and hopefully it won’t be quite so long before our next message.
