July 29th Update- Day 274 in the hospital/Day 265 on the transplant list

While we’re thankful for another week of stable labs, the biggest challenge right now is helping Sofia gain back the weight she recently lost. She had been gaining weight really well after starting milrinone, but recently lost a decent amount, and it’s been difficult to get her back on track. The team has been making a few medication adjustments, and thankfully her nausea seems to be improving a little. We’re hoping these medication changes will help her start gaining weight again.

We also had some fun this week! Sofia celebrated Seacrest Studios’ 13th birthday with a party in the lobby, and both the hospital and Ronald McDonald House hosted Christmas in July celebrations. The kids were excited to get a couple of new toys.

Mom and Dad have also been busy planning Noah’s second birthday, which is coming up soon. It’s hard to believe we’re about to celebrate another family birthday with Sofia still in the hospital. We’ve celebrated Mom’s birthday, then Sofia’s birthday, and soon Noah’s birthday, with Dad’s birthday just around the corner.

The wait has been much longer than we ever hoped it would be, but we’re so grateful for every day we’ve been given. Every day Sofia remains strong, stable, and healthy is another day that brings us closer to the miracle heart we’ve been praying for.

  1. God bless Sofia! We at Duffey Memorial Church in Moorefield, West Virginia, became aware of Sophia’s health challenge through her grandfather, who visited our church one Sunday. We are praying for Sofia, for the whole family, and for the other children at the same hospital as Sofia.
