PTC Drain 1

Update!
Last Thursday’s procedure took a little time, but they were unable to get a drain tube through the stricture in his bile duct. Instead, they placed a drain to help clear the backed up bile for a few days with the idea to try again Monday (today). He ran around the hospital with his drain bag over the weekend and had a great time with his grandpa!
Today, he had his procedure to try to get the tube through. Luckily, everything worked as predicted as he’s got a drain through the duct. We’re coming back right before the New Year to try to place a slightly bigger tube in.
We’ll have to repeat this procedure a few more times until his bile duct remains open. The estimate is 2-3 months. So, we’ll be travelling up and back to Pittsburgh every few weeks for the next few months until this is resolved. Everyone says that once this is resolved it shouldn’t happen again and it should help him from having klebsiella infections.
He’s doing great after his procedure! If everything goes according to plan, then we’ll be discharged tomorrow!
