We wanted to share another update on Evelyn as we head into the next couple of days:
The team met today to discuss next steps. Right now, we are in a waiting window. The team is giving her until Friday to see if the added medication (dopamine) makes any meaningful difference. They’ll repeat her echo and continue watching her labs very closely.
There has been a small positive sign so far with slightly improved pressures on her echo today, but overall her heart function remains extremely low and very fragile.
On Friday, the team will come together again to make a bigger decision:
If they feel the medication is truly helping, they may try to carefully keep her stable on it a little longer
If not, the next step will be moving forward with an LVAD, which would likely be scheduled for next week.
They’ve been very honest with us that this is no longer an “if,” but a “when” when it comes to needing more support — it’s just about timing it as safely as possible.
Because of how weak her heart is right now, she’s in a very delicate place. There is a real risk of sudden decline, including cardiac arrest, which is why they are watching her so closely in the unit and why every decision is being made so carefully.
