Evelyn keeps getting better and stronger every day. This evening she wanted to turn on her karaoke machine, and she danced her little booty off right in her bed. Moments like these fill our hearts with so much joy.
We’ve continued slowly weaning her oxygen and decreasing her flow settings, and today she was also able to have her catheter removed, which I’m sure was a huge relief for her.
One of the hardest things right now is telling Evelyn she can’t eat. She constantly tells us she’s starving, and honestly, after everything she’s been through, I’m sure she is. For now, she’s limited to small amounts of ice chips, water, and juice. She is tentatively scheduled for a swallow study on Monday to determine whether she’s ready for thicker liquids. Because her breathing tube was in for so long, the muscles involved in swallowing are weak and need time to recover. Her voice is still very hoarse and soft.
We’re praying the swallow study goes well and that she’ll be back to enjoying her favorite Chinese food before long. 
The progress she’s made in just a few short days has been incredible. She has made leaps and bounds, and we are so proud of her strength and determination.
On another note, the garage sale was a huge success! We are truly overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who donated, volunteered, shopped, shared our posts, and rallied for our family. Thank you for continuing to lift Evelyn up and walk alongside us on this journey. We feel your love every single day.
