Evelyn had another good day today. All of the daily PT and movement is really paying off.
We spent part of the day making Father’s Day crafts, and for the first time in 35 days, she was able to leave the unit. We went down to the atrium to celebrate a hospital friend’s birthday, and seeing her smile from ear to ear and giggle with the other girls was such a gift. She enjoyed some delicious food, treats, and goodies that we brought back to her room.
Tomorrow around noon, they will be transitioning her from her current LVAD system to the Berlin Heart pump. Evelyn is a little nervous, which is completely understandable, but we’ve talked through it together. Like she always does, she’ll face it with courage and strength.
Every day she continues to amaze us. Through all of the challenges, she keeps finding reasons to smile, laugh, and be a kid. We are so proud of her resilience and grateful for another good day filled with progress, friendship, and joy.
