December Update

Weston’s labs have been stable lately which is fantastic. The longer we can let him grow before he has a transplant the better.

Weston is scheduled for a procedure on January 2nd to close a small hole in his heart called a PFO, or Patent Foramen Ovale. A PFO occurs in about 25% of the normal population and most people never know they have it. Weston’s was discovered during pre-transplant testing and needs to be closed in order to prevent serious complications that could occur during transplant. Even though this is a minor procedure it is still scary. Prayers are always greatly appreciated! After this procedure is completed they would prefer to wait at least 3-4 months before transplant to allow the closure device to become covered with tissue.

Weston will continue to have an upper GI done every 2-3 months to monitor his esophageal varices. His next upper GI is scheduled January 16th. Again, minor procedure but still scary!

David, Keigan, Weston, and I are so blessed to be surrounded by amazing people! The love and support we receive daily is outstanding. Encouraging calls, text messages, cards in the mail, and face to face support is beyond belief! I have meet several new people throughout this journey and I thank God for each and everyone of them. Some of them have traveled a journey similar to ours and some have traveled a completely different journey.

Sometimes I’m a little slow to update and I apologize for that. I know you all look for updates on our little guy and I do appreciate you for keeping up with us! If you ever have a question or need an update and I haven’t posted in a while, feel free to ask!
