Day 3, rest day

Transplant Day 3…
Today is a day of rest. That is pretty much all she has done today and for that I am THANKFUL????
The last 72hrs have been like a dream. I still can’t believe this is happening. They have also been very BUSY. As I mentioned yesterday she had a lot of things happen that were concerning but not worrisome. There were a few more episodes of that nature this morning including needing 2 more units of blood (total of 4 units so far) and a case of pancreatitis (expected from surgery). Despite feeling a bit weak (hemoglobin was at 7.5 and RBC was 2.6 after receiving 1st 2 units of blood) she is in great spirits and has Hercules strength, maneuvering herself in bed & walking to the bathroom … often.
Her new organs seem to be making friends within their new environment thus far. She’s showing no signs of rejection (PRAISE THE LORD!!!). Her rejection meds are a little too high right now and they are making her a bit emotional. There’s still some fine tuning that needs to be done but we’ll get there.
I can say this, since V still has to have an ostomy, I was able to see a portion of her new intestines (stoma). While looking at it, I notice movement, peristalsis!!! What intestines are suppose to do. My eyes well with tears and it was the most beautiful thing I have seen since the birth of my babies. My girl finally has working organs. Glory be to God.
That’s the update on this rainy, sleepy day in Cincy. ????
Oh yeah, she was granted a small cup of ice chips every 6hrs. #winning
