Blue jeans & Popsicles
It’s been a minute since I made an update and that’s mostly because things have been uneventful in a good way. From a transplant perspective, we could not be more blessed with the outcome so far. God is Good????
We were told the highest risk of rejection typically happens around days 8-22. Tomorrow will be day 22 and Monday’s scope & biopsy continues to show no signs of rejection. Keep praying her body accepts her gift of life.
Her staples came out last week and her scar is healing nicely. She is on a low calorie “formula” feed at a rate of 33mls/hr. continuous. They increase by 1-2mls every 12 hrs. Once she gets to 40 they will increase calories and start low & work up. It’s a very slow process. She is allowed to have 2 no sugar popsicles a day & that makes her happy. Dr. Sam hinted on Monday that chicken & rice would be in her near future!!!
All of her lab work is beautiful. Her liver numbers are steadily trending down and her GGT which was once at 578 is now down to 155 (normal is <40). Her pancreatitis has resolved. She is having some intense “mystery pain” on her right side but all labs & scans prove everything is as it should be. The team is monitoring & as of now we are assuming it’s just part of the healing process.
Victoria is as strong as she has always been and healthier than I have seen her in years. She was told she’s weeks ahead of schedule & it all continues in this direction she might be discharged later this month????
