Saturday June 13: POD 8

Unfortunately, it was another pain filled night for Emmy. The pain service made a few more changes to her medications this morning and so far we’ve had a much better day today. She walked twice (with a third planned later this evening) and was able to get a long nap once she was feeling more comfortable.

They repeated an abdominal x-ray this morning and it was unchanged so right now the doctors are associating the pain to her acute pancreatitis episode during the procedure in addition to the “normal” course of pain experienced by some post-TPIAT patients at this stage as her intestines start to work again.

Emmy was still fairly nauseous today, but no vomiting which has been a welcomed improvement.

We are all missing Avery a lot today. She’s having a blast and even found some new books to read today at a book festival. We can’t wait to see her here in Cincinnati on Wednesday.
