June 15th: Post Op Day 10

Sorry that I did not get this posted yesterday. (If I start doing everything on time Katie will expect this to continue upon our return home, so I must temper her expectations)

We had an amazing, busy, and fun filled day yesterday! We started the day with a visit from Cincinnati Reds pitcher Tejay Antone. He was great and spent quite a bit of time with Emmy. He lives in Dallas and it turns out they are both Swifties, so they had much to discuss!

The central line and two JP drains are out! That leaves Emmy with only her feeding tube and one peripheral IV remaining. She’s in dire risk of loosing her official Cyborg status soon.

In the afternoon, she walked all the way downstairs and outside so that she could chase me with her remote control car. End result: Car – 10, Daddy – 0

With her reduction in tubes and lines she was able to take a real shower yesterday evening which felt wonderful for her. Following that she got a visit from one of the resident therapy dogs.

She still continues to need scheduled pain medicine around the clock and has some decent nausea spells, but each day seems to be a small improvement from the last these past few days. Her feeds are now down to only 12 hours a day so we are hopeful that her appetite will increase.

Avery is wrapping up her time in South Dakota in preparation to travel here to Cincinnati tomorrow ( Wednesday). We can’t wait to see her!
